A thought-provoking article, Zach! I had never thought about that connotation of the “free” in “freelancer.”

In terms of the fees (and how it might be different for a graphic designer than for a handyman), I wonder if part of that is also tradition?

I mean, doctors and lawyers and handymen have been around for a long time, so there are a tradition and customs about paying them. I’d assume that graphic designer is a more recent profession that’s perhaps a bit less intangible?
