Great wisdom in a short 2-minute read. I really like how you pointed out that certain word choices make us feel out of control. It reminds me of a distinction Fred Kofman makes between “victim”’ and “players.”

If we choose the perspective of a “victim,” life happens to us. The week is crazy (which is generally a bad word choice for all the reasons you mentioned).

As a “player,” we are playing the game instead of just letting it happen to us. And that means taking responsibility which we can do by using words such as “overcommitted.”

That said, sometimes life does happen to us. Sometimes there is grief or loss or sickness or something that’s totally out of the left field. And I think when that happens, it can be healing to acknowledge that how we’re feeling is not due to something we could control.
