Ivan, I started scrolling down in the midst of your article (when you starting giving your number examples) to leave you a comment because I got so excited by what you wrote.
I love your article! This is such an amazing reframe that I wish every creator got to read this.
I love that you mentioned the Apollo 11 crew (what a great example!) and Rammstein (I saw them in concert a few times and I think they’re the best live band), and I’ve only just read through your single digits examples.
I think that numbers alone can be deceiving because so much is also about level of engagement. For instance, you get so much engagement on your articles (like 466 claps on this article and counting — I still need to clap once I’m done commenting— and 11 comments). That you get there with under 200 followers shows me that you have a super-engaged audience and quite a few true fans already.
So, I think there’s also something about breadth (number of audience) vs. depth (engagement). At some point, it might be great to have both a lot of breadth and depth but if I had to choose, I think that touching a few people in a deep way is more important than touching many in a purely superficial way.
Now, back to finishing your article!
