That’s so interesting!

Yeah, I’ve noticed that in English, people will often revert to using “he” for any animal whose gender they don’t know. In German, the word “cat” is female and the word “dog” is male, so there’s more variety in pronouns when it comes to animals… but just as much inaccuracy when it comes to their gender.

Thankfully, animals don’t seem to mind so there’s that. :) But I think those examples show how complicated and messy language is.
